Sage Hills Church will be hosting a release party of sorts this Saturday, February 29th at 7:00 pm for Backyard Pilgrim: Forty Days at Godspeed.

The book has been published as a sequel to the film Godspeed, which was shown at the Liberty Theater in Wenatchee in 2015.

Pastor, actor, and now author Matt Canlis stated Backyard Pilgrim: Forty Days at Godspeed continues the principles of living a less tech-centric, outdoor life found in Godspeed and applies them to home.

"At the time of filming in Scotland I was just a student. But then there was a job for a parish assistant, which I took, and began working for the Church of Scotland." Canlis said, "I don't think of myself as the center of the film. I'm kind of the fool of the film, and the village people are the ones who give me a proper education."

Godspeed was shot in Scotland over three days in three villages.

"This way of living, face to face with others, not overwhelmed by cell phones or busyness, can be done anywhere." continued Canlis, "So the film then has an epilogue which is filmed in Wenatchee."

The book challenges it readers to, among other things, take 15 minutes a day during lent and walk outside to get a better sense of your own neighborhood.

Music from Andrew Peterson will also be featured during the event. Go to livegodspeed.org for more information.
