Baskets of Blessings Hoping to Provide 450 Thanksgiving Meals to Local Families
Serve Wenatchee is now accepting donations for its Basket of Blessings program.
Executive Director Thom Nees said the program is something Serve Wenatchee has done just about their entire existence.
"It is a program that offers a Thanksgiving basket that includes all of the fixings for a family to share a Thanksgiving meal in their own home." explained Nees, "It includes different items in the basket like vegetables, cranberries, potatoes, a turkey; those traditional things that go with a Thanksgiving meal."
Serve Wenatchee hopes to hand out 450 baskets this year. One third of those will be Hispanic-themed that include a traditional chicken instead of a turkey.
"The amazing thing is when we provide this many (baskets) we really are able to provide a meal for a great deal." Nees detailed, "It costs just $35 to provide a full Thanksgiving meal for a family."
There will be an opportunity for families to sign up for baskets at Cornerstone Church November 21st from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm and November 22nd from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. For more information regarding signing up for baskets, Nees says it's best to call Serve Wenatchee directly at their office at (509) 663-4673.
Donations can be made at servewenatchee.org. Nees added that their goal is to raise at least $15,750, enough for 450 baskets.
