The Chelan County Sheriff's Office says they received multiple reports of a scam in which residents receive a phone call from a person who claims to be Sgt. Adam Musgrove from the Chelan Police Department.

That particular agency last existed in 2004 and while Musgrove works for the Sheriff's Office, he is a Chief now having been promoted earlier this year.

The CCSO recommends that if you are concerned about the legitimacy of a call, contact Rivercom on the non-emergency line to verify the Deputy is on duty, and even to be transferred directly to their cell phone.

Also, no Deputy asks for money over the phone or threatens jail time or arrest if the money is not paid.
