The Chelan PUD is extending a helping hand for the Town Toyota Center vaccination efforts by transitioning the Walla Walla Point Park parking lots for vaccine traffic usage.

The Town Toyota Center site has increased from 100 vaccinations per day to 1,000 per day with the potential of 2,000 per day and this has resulted in staging issues with the cars.

"(We're) creating basically a long line where they can stage cars away from traffic out in Walla Walla Avenue," said Tracy Yount, director of external affairs.

Volunteers will direct those lining up for vaccines into a queue that moves through roughly half of the parking areas at Walla Walla Point Park before heading onto the Town Toyota Center.

Park users may find available spots at Linden Tree at Ninth Street and Walla Walla Avenue, or Riverfront Park at the end of Fifth Street.
