The Community Center at Lake Chelan recently landed a central piece of property as a result of a three-way agreement between the Lookout, Chelan Valley Housing Trust and the Seven Acres Foundation. The current property is in the southern part of Chelan on Anderson Road whereas the new location is within walking distance of downtown Chelan.

"Our agreement with the Lookout is, property that was committed to the Chelan Valley Housing Trust will now go to the Seven Acres Foundation for the community center," said Ben Williams, Seven Acres Foundation president. "By doing this, this will enable Seven Acres Foundation to donate five acres of land to the Chelan Valley Housing Trust."

Seven Acres Foundation will purchase additional land to add onto the two acreage portion of land to complete the project. In exchange, the Chelan Valley Housing Trust will receive five acres from Seven Acres Foundation versus two acres from the Lookout to build affordable homes.

"The functionality building is in the name," said Williams. "It really is going to be a community center that's accessible to the public. We really want it to be a central hub that's a manifestation of our values as an organiztaion."

The 25,000 square foot community center will be centralized and include a 25 yard competition swimming pool due to a donation, basketball and sport courts, an auditorium with stage, public meeting areas and offices, as well as outdoor sand volleyball and pickleball courts.

The Seven Acres Foundation is continuing fundraising efforts for The Community Center at Lake Chelan and expects to begin construction no later than Spring of 2021.
