Douglas County Planning Commission Meeting on 290-Unit Apartment Complex Delayed

The Douglas County Planning Commission meeting this week is now rescheduled for April 13th.

The meeting now has a zoom option after a large number of residents signed up to speak.

The only current item on the Planning Commission Agenda this week was the proposal for a 290-unit apartment complex on 24 acres at 5th and Lyle streets from Wilkinson Corporation of Yakima.

There's been local opposition to the project over traffic, parking and property value concerns.

The development would include a swimming pool, sports court, dog park and an interconnecting trail.

The Planning Commission’s Wednesday meeting was scheduled to take place at the county public services building on 19th Street in East Wenatchee beginning at 5:30 p.m.

It's not known if the location will be moved to accommodate a larger crowd.
