Fire Burns Through Moses Lake Wetland

Moses Lake and Grant County District 5 firefighters battled a blaze that burned roughly 10 acres of wetland around the 1300 block of Marina Drive Tuesday around 5:00 pm.

Moses Lake Fire Department Chief Jeremy Beach said the fire was especially trying as communications were limited and personnel was stretched thin responding to other calls.

"The fire basically burnt from the point of the peninsula back towards the Marina Shore residential group where we were able to stop it before we lost any structures," explained Beach.

The fire consumed almost the entire peninsula but there was no property damage. Crews knocked down and contained the blaze after about 2 1/2 hours.
