The City of Wenatchee has about a week to decide if they want to do a fireworks show for the Fourth of July because of a required deposit.

At Thursday's City Council meeting, Mayor Frank Kuntz said the current thought is to still do the fireworks show, but the party at the park won't happen.

"I think even if we can't have 10-15,000 of our closest friends down there, at least a display where you can get up on the hills or wherever you are in your neighborhood and watch it is probably something we're going to look towards doing."

Kuntz called it a public safety issue.

The Wenatchee Valley Fourth of July has historically happened at Walla Walla Point Park with food, music and the Wenatchee Valley Symphony Orchestra playing to the fireworks show at night.
