Larson Will Not Fill Wenatchee School Board Seat
Tim Larson, winner of the recent election for Wenatchee School Board Seat #2, will resign his would-be position at Tuesday night's regularly scheduled board meeting.
"Mr. Larson has chosen at this point not to take the oath of office." Communications Manager Diana Haglund said, "We are expecting him to read a statement prior to (Tuesday's) board meeting. This is due in part because of the short time that he would serve on the board and his impending move outside of the Wenatchee School District."
The development means a three member school board of Michele Sandberg, Laura Jaecks and Martin Barron must appoint two more board members. Former member Sara Knox resigned Seat #5 two weeks ago after accepting a job in Seattle. Both appointees will serve full, four-year terms.
Just barely one year ago, Seat #2 was resigned by Dr. Walter S. Newman. Karina Vega-Villa was then selected to fill the role in January, and Tim Larson won the seat in this month's election.
The board will be tasked will developing a timeline for the appointment process. The open positions will be filled simultaneously.
