Gubernatorial candidate Loren Culp said Wednesday that he is out of a job after the Republic Police Department was cut from the city's budget.

According to our news partner iFIBER ONE, the Republic City Council voted 3-1 to contract police services with Ferry County. Culp is the current Chief of Police of Republic, but took a leave of absence in September to run against Governor Jay Inslee.

Said Culp, “Not even a letter of thank you, not a plaque for 10 years of service. They just voted to defund the police department, and away with that, went my job.”

Culp is currently far behind Inslee in the race for governor, trailing by about 18% of the vote.
