Mail Theft on the Rise

The Chelan County Sheriff's Office is warning area residents of mail thieves after a recent string of mail theft incidents.

According to a post on the Sheriff's Office Instagram account, deputies recovered a number of pieces of mail that were found strewn across an unidentified roadway Monday morning. Mail thieves have been targeting the East Wenatchee, Cashmere, and Sunnyslope areas in particular.

The Sheriff's Office said that if you see vehicles or people at your mailbox or your neighbors mailboxes, other than a USPS worker, please don't hesitate to take a picture of the subject and or vehicle and call Rivercom to report the suspicious activity. Any unopened mail recovered is returned to USPS for redelivery. Victims of mail theft are contacted by law enforcement if opened mail is recovered.
