Rollover Accident Sends 16-Year-Old To Hospital
A rollover accident by Pioneer Middle School in Wenatchee just after 10:00 Monday night sent a young teenager to the hospital.
Wenatchee Police Captain Edgar Reinfeld said 41-year-old Charles Taylor of Wenatchee was driving a 2014 Ford Focus southwest on Orondo Street at excessive speed when he failed to negotiate the curve onto Cherry Street. The vehicle struck the curb in the 900 block of Cherry Street. As the Focus rolled over it destroyed a city light pole, ground mounted transformer, a fence and a bench.
Taylor was arrested for reckless endangerment.
"In this case we do not have any evidence of impairment. This is strictly excessive speed." explained Reinfeld, "The driver had noted there was some things about the vehicle that weren't working properly, which also contributed to the arrest for reckless endangerment. If he thought the vehicle wasn't road worthy, he definitely shouldn't be driving it with passengers and certainly shouldn't be speeding."
A 16-year-old girl was injured and transported to Central Washington Hospital, while another occupant, a 14-year-old girl, was relatively uninjured.
