Investigators are still assessing the damage after a second-alarm structure fire Sunday night destroyed an outbuilding in the 1500 block of Western Avenue in Wenatchee.

Chelan County Fire District 1 Captain Albert Torres said a large 50x50 woodshed was already fully involved when crews responded to the scene around 6:30 pm.

Crews were challenged by the 15 degree weather and had to have their pumps and lines continuously running to keep them from freezing.

"One of the problems that we're having because of the cold and heat is visibility." explained Torres, "They are not able to see anything as soon as they put water on it."

There were no injuries. The cause is still under investigation.

A small section of Western Avenue was shut down during the fire response so crews could lay hose across the road.

Crews from Chelan County Fire Districts 1 and 8, Douglas County Fire Districts 2 and 4, Wenatchee Police Department, Ballard Ambulance and Public Works all responded.
