The Wenatchee Wild and Trail Smoke Eaters were tied after 20 minutes but three power play goals led the way as Trail defeated Wenatchee 5-1 on Wednesday night at Cominco Arena in Trail, BC, Canada.

Trail scored first when an endboard battle popped the puck into the slot where Phillipe Lapointe smacked in home for the 1-0 lead. Wenatchee tied it up when Harrison Scott put a nice deflection on a Trevor Griebel shot from the left point and the game was tied at 1 at the end of the first. Two power play goal for Trail widened the gap to 3-1, the first a post-side jam-in by Owen Ozar, the second a blocker side wrister from Kent Johnson. Lapointe added an even strength goal in the third and Diarmid DiMurro top shelfed the Smoke Eaters third power play marker for a 5-1 final. Wild goalie Noah Altman stopped 30 of 35 shots.

Wenatchee (9-8-2) returns home for a four game homestand, beginning Friday and Saturday night against the Merritt Centennials. The games this weekend will air on NewsRadio 560 KPQ.
