A structure fire Saturday night pretty much gutted the Moses Lake Liquor Store in the 1100 block of North Stratford Road.

Captain Brandon Burns stated that the blaze was originally discovered by members of law enforcement responding to a burglary alarm at the same location.

Burns said, "We arrived a few minutes later just before 11:00 pm and found the building fully charged with smoke and a fire that looked to be in a back stockroom."

The fire initially swept through the building, fueled for the most part by alcohol. The blaze then mostly snuffed itself out through a lack of oxygen and fuel.

The building was unoccupied at the time and there were no injuries. Most of the building was severely damaged, with an attached apartment only suffering smoke damage.

Firefighters spent about 4 1/2 hours on scene. The cause is under investigation by the Moses Lake Fire Department and the Moses Lake Police Department.
