The U.S. Forest Service will be conducting visitor surveys for a year beginning Tuesday, October 1st. Public Affairs Officer Robin DeMario says students and staff from the University of Washington will be conducting the entirely volunteer survey.

"They're going to ask questions about; where you recreated on the forest, how many people were in your group or traveled with you, how long you were there, the number of recreation sites you visited while in the National Forest, and were you happy with your visit or not. We'll take that information and that will help us in the future to be able to see where improvements are needed."

In addition to the traffic survey, visitor use information will also be gathered via a self-service QR code posted at different recreation sites across the forest.

Forest Recreation Program Manager Suzanne Cable says, "It’s important for interviewers to talk with local people using the forest, as well as out-of-area visitors, so all are represented in the study."

The survey is expected to take about 10 minutes.
