USDA Rural Development is sponsoring a free workshop on January 28th from 10:30-1 at the Okanogan USDA Service Center. The workshop will provide an overview of the USDA's Value-Added Producer grant program.

"The grant is for agricultural producers to increase the value of the commodities that they're growing by marketing them into other products," said Roni Baer, business programs specialist.

This particular grant program offers opportunities to both beginning and socially disadvantaged farmers along with independent producers and cooperatives and agricultural producer groups. The workshop will cover the qualifications for the grant, what the grant can pay for and how to apply for the grant. The address for the USDA Service Center is 1251 Second Ave. South.
