A Warden man will serve almost the entire decade in federal prison after agreeing to a plea deal in U.S. District Court in Spokane.

According to our news partner iFIBER ONE, 35-year-old Michael Castoreno 0f Warden was sentenced to nine years in federal prison earlier this week.

Moses Lake Police Captain Jerry Sands said the sentence stemmed from a 2018 incident where the US. Marshals Violent Offender Task Force attempted to arrest Castereno in Moses Lake on a felony warrant.

Castereno then fled a traffic stop in a Dodge Charger and drove down Route 17 to Warden, where he had family.

"During the chase his car had been spiked." Sands explained, "The federal task force then attempted to box him in to get him off of the road and slow him down even further. He chose to ram one of the marshal's vehicles. At some point his car did become inoperable and he took off on foot."

Castoreno fled through a neighborhood until K9 Chief bit him in the shoulder area. He was then treated and arrested.

Four pistols, meth, heroin, and cash were later found in Castoreno's vehicle.

Charges in Grant County relating to stolen and unlawful possession of firearms, possession of meth, malicious mischief, as well as a federal charge of felon in possession of firearms were all dismissed as part of the plea agreement.
