WDFW Looking for Public Comment on Possible Peshastin Mill Purchase
The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife is taking public comment about a proposed plan to purchase one acre of land in the Peshastin Mill Access Area to build a parking lot.
North Central Regional Director Jim Brown says the purchase would be in partnership with the Complete the Loop Coalition who created a trail along the river in the area.
"We've been stuck with folks wanting to use the site both for hiking and other wildlife-related uses but haven't been able to adequately find a place to park their vehicle."
Brown says the Complete the Loop Coalition will work with the property owner to negotiate a price of the purchase.
"They would do the negotiations, come up with a price. Assuming the price was reasonable to them, they would provide the funds to us to be able to purchase the property and put it into our public lands portfolio and have a parking space there that's official and part of state land in order to access that land."
The WDFW is also looking for public comment on the project. Public comments are being accepted through January 3rd, 2020.
