Wenatchee City Council Approves Saddle Rock Natural Area Project
The Wenatchee City Council unanimously approved the request for the Phase 2 Interim Remedial Action Project for the Saddle Rock Natural Area to move forward.
The motion requested Mayor Frank Kuntz's signature to authorize Amendment Number 2. The approval adds to the professional services agreement with GeoEngineers, Inc., to conduct construction management, and authorizes the expenditure in the amount of $168,208 to complete the project.
Capital Projects Manager, Charlotte Mitchell says that additional work is required to improve the trail for long term use. "There's some more work we would like to add that would add long term value to the trail, and long term sustainability."
Saddle Rock has been a landmark in the Wenatchee Valley for decades, and a popular destination for outdoor recreationists.
Mitchell says that the additional funding is covered by the Chelan-Douglas Land Trust, "The Land Trust has graciously agreed to chip in some money. The end game of this is we're fine, the city isn't going to have to pay more money."
The anticipated project completion date is October 28, 2022.
