Wenatchee School District Looking to Reduce School Days, Increase Parent-Teacher Conferences
The Wenatchee School Board is asking the state Board of Education to approve a waiver that would allow the district dip below the required minimum 180 school days per year.
The move is intended to better facilitate parent-teacher conferences this year.
Communications Director Diana Haglund said the request is not unusual, and provides an opportunity for parents to connect with teachers and learn more about their students' education in the classroom.
According to the resolution, the district is looking to decrease their K-12 school year by up for four days. The move would eliminate any dates where teachers would teach for a half-day and then hold conferences, replacing those dates with full-day conference dates.
