Facing the Salmon Arm Silverbacks on the road for the second time in five days, the Wild put together a solid 60-minute body of work, leading to a 3-1 win over the Silverbacks on Thursday night at the Shaw Centre.

The scoring opened at 6:43 of the first when Luke Gallagher sailed a midpoint shot through traffic into the top blocker side corner on the power play. It remained 1-0 at the first intermission. Wenatchee doubled their lead in the opening minute of the second period. Nico Chmelevski carried the puck down the left on a 3-on-1 rush, sending a pass to Nick Cafarelli in the middle. Cafarelli pushed the one-touch pass back to Chmelevski who wired it home for the 2-0 lead. Salmon Arm was able to get on the board on a power play of their own at 2:10 when Luke Mylymok fired a shot from the right circle that caromed off a post, then off the back of Wild goalie Daniel Chenard and into the net. The 2-1 score held into the third period.

In the final frame, Wenatchee got some breathing room when Nico Chmelevski forced a turnover behind the Salmon Arm goal, then fed it out front for Harrison Scott who had trouble with his initial shot attempt but regrouped and fired it past Silverback goalie Ethan Langenegger who got a piece of the shot but not enough to stop it. A late Wild penalty gave Salmon Arm a 6-on-4 advantage as they pulled the goalie for the extra skater but Chenard and the Wild stood fast for the 3-1 victory. Chenard stopped 23 of 24 shots and earned the Number 1 Star of the Game.

Wenatchee (12-10-4) will go on to meet West Kelowna on Friday and Merritt on Saturday. The games will be broadcast on NewsRadio 560 KPQ on Friday, then SportsRadio 1340 The Hawk on Saturday.
