The Wenatchee Valley Chamber of Commerce have unveiled the names of the three finalists for the Wenatchee Valley Business of the Year and Nonprofit of the Year, respectively.

Director of Chamber Operations Chelsea Ewer said staff do not choose the nominees or winner. Instead, the chamber puts out a call through the community and their members for nominations.

Finally, an award committee is then put together to whittle down the nominations to three selections a category, and then to the eventually winners.

Jeffers, Danielson Sonn & Aylward law firm, Tumbleweed Shop & Studio, and McGlinn's Public House were chosen for the 2019 Business of the year.

"In that process they read each nomination individually, and listen to the stories, to get an idea of their involvement in the community and how they give back to the community, including volunteerism and employee empowerment." explained Ewer, "So they kind of take a full-circle look at each nomination, drill it down, and make that tough decision."

Finalists for Nonprofit of the Year are Chelan-Douglas Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), Serve Wenatchee Valley, and the Wellness place.

"For the award committee it just came down to the impact that each nominee has made." continued Ewer, "The leaps and bounds they have made over the last year and the things that they've accomplished. We just want to be able to properly recognize the incredibly important work each organization is doing in our valley."

The winner will be announced at the Wenatchee Valley Chamber of Commerce banquet March 5th. The event starts a 5:30 pm at the Wenatchee Convention Center.

As of noon Friday, January 24th, some tickets were still available. Go to wenatchee.org for more information.
