The Wenatchee Valley Chamber of Commerce will be hosting state budget writers at their virtual Coffee and Commerce event October 8th.

Executive Director Shiloh Burgess said the Chamber's hope is that local business leaders and the community at large will come to better understand the impacts that COVID-19 has had on the state budget, as well as solutions that legislators are contemplating.

"Will (legislators) be looking at reducing policy spending or increasing taxes? How will businesses fair with the unemployment insurance trust running out of funds? Where will they be looking to replenish that fund? What other things might businesses want to be aware of as we're going into the 2021 session around how they might balance that budget."

Invitees include Senate Ways and Means Committee Chair Christine Rolfes, Senate Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member John Braun, House Capital Budget Committee Chair Steven Tharinger, and House Capital Budget Committee Assistant Ranking Member Mike Steele.

The event will run from 8:00 am to 9:00 am via Zoom. The event is free for Chamber members, and $10 for non-members.
