2000 Chickens Perish in Structure Fire

Grant County District 13 firefighters discovered an outbuilding near Neva Lake Road and Railroad Avenue on fire when the crew was returning from the vehicle and pedestrian collision on Dodson Road and taking a detour home. According to assistant chief, Todd Hufman, they notified dispatch to send additional units and District 13 and Ephrata firefighters worked to extinguish the fire which took around 20 minutes. Approximately 2000 chickens were lost in the fire. The Fire Marshal's office is investigating the cause of the fire.
