Big Bend Community College Participates in Law Enforcement Drone Training
Big Bend Community College program, Unmanned Aircraft Systems department, worked alongside local law enforcement for drone training.
The Moses Lake Police Department, Othello Police Department, Quincy Police Department, Soap Lake Police, Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office and the Central Washing University Police had officers participate over the weekend.
"The college put together an accelerated course to help eight officers get their UMS 107 certification," said Matthew Killebrew, director of communications. "They spent Saturday in the college's unmanned systems flight center and the next day at McKay Field in Moses Lake."
The college's flight center is the largest drone outdoor netted facility on the West Coast.
The UMS 107 course is an overview on the blanket set of rules for operating a drone in the United States that was implemented by the FAA.
