Fire crews responded to an early season brush fire a few miles northwest of Chelan just before noon Monday.

A slow moving brush fire got out of control in the 900 block of Purtteman Gulch Road after it had been started by a homeowner burning brush along a fence line. It took fire crews about 15 minutes to control the fire that was about an eighth of an acre in size.

According to Chelan Fire and Rescue, the fire is a very good example of just how dry the vegetation in our area is. Residents should use extreme caution whenever burning.
