Chelan Fire and Rescue crews responded to a brush fire off Little Butte Road Sunday afternoon a little after 3:00 p.m.

Deputy Chief Brandon Asher says 20 MPH winds carried embers from a burn pile to nearby sage and grass.

A second alarm was called as the fire spread quickly, but a quick response, and some help from the wind changing directions was able to keep the fire to three acres in size.

Asher says this was the first opportunity to use a new heavy brush truck on an active fire and it proved very helpful.
