Chelan County has started the process of crafting their 2020 budget. Commissioner Doug Englund says they've received budget requests from each of the department and will do what they can to provide as many resources as possible. He also noted they don't worry about changes that might happen due to November's election.

"We put on the side what might happen and we look at the way things are right now. Those possibilities; we have ways to adjust the budget as the year goes along and we look at both the different options and we try to be flexible in what we assign to different departments."

He says they have a healthy fund to work with as they go through the process though they haven't had any requests that are unexpected as they keep in contact with the department heads.

"They have expressed a lot of their needs, so there aren't any real surprises. They realize that there are some things they feel that they need that we can't give them, but they have been very helpful and cooperative in the past and it looks like they're being that same way this year."

Budget commentaries were submitted by each department and then they will be presented in front of the commission.
