The 2020 edition of the Chelan County Fair has been canceled.

Manager Karen Welch says the pandemic forced their hands, but they do want to find something to help the kids who adopted and were hoping to sell animals.

"We want to see where we're at with the different phases from the government as to whether or not they can have a livestock judging show during the dates of when our Fair would have taken place this year. Right now, there is nothing concrete with that."

The Fair Board will meet throughout the summer to try and plan something for the animals.

Welch says they simply didn't have enough certainty in a workable timeframe with the pandemic.

"There is a lot of disappointment, a lot of saddened people. You have to realize that a lot of our vendors; this is their livelihood and we're not the first or only event that had to cancel. A lot of them are suffering."

She believes this is the first-ever cancellation of the Fair which has been going on for more than 60 years.
