The city of Quincy made the first step in the plan to design and construct an indoor soccer facility after city council approved the idea of a fabric building. The original plan included a cluster of recreation buildings with a proposal to phase the facilities' construction, however it was an expensive idea.

"I started investigating the possibility...of a fabric building. It's not the same as the architectural design that was originally proposed, but it's a functional facility," said Pat Haley, city administrator. "Council gave me permission to start on the design work that's necessary to make that (the indoor facility) happen."

The fabric building would be a less expensive option, appropriate size for the community and serves as functional facility. The location of the building would also be situated nearby outdoor soccer fields.

"The inside will be very, very functional for youth and adults who just want some indoor recreation opportunities," said Haley.

Since the process is just starting, no timeline has been given for the estimated completion of the facility.
