Rufus Woods Lake is back to teaming with trout after staff from the Colville Confederated Tribes' Resident Fish Program began stocking this week.

Colville Tribes Fish and Wildlife says over 23,000 fish were added to the lake Tuesday, with each triploid rainbow trout averaging 1.44 pounds.

Anglers must have either a tribal permit or a Washington State fishing license to be able to fish on or around the lake east of Bridgeport.

Additional stocking events into Rufus Woods Lake are scheduled for April and May.

All anglers are encouraged to provide information associated with their catch to creel personnel or by calling the Colville Tribes’ Fish and Wildlife Department at (509) 634-2110.
