Five members of the community have been chosen to be on the Chelan-Douglas Board of Health after they were unanimously approved by county commissioners Monday.

The new at-large board members will be:

  • CVCH Infection Specialist and nurse Marissa Smith
  • Wenatchee CAFE co-founder Alma Chacon
  • Confluence Health Endocrinologist Dr. Bindu Nayak
  • Addiction recovery coach Joseph Hunter
  • Hydrogeologist Bill Sullivan

Five alternates were also selected from the list of 10 finalists.

Both the Chelan and Douglas County boards must individually pass a resolution appointing the five members to the health board. The move is expected by both boards next week.

An additional at-large board member will be appointed by the American Indian Health Commission, making the board a 12-member body. A mayor from a small city also must still be chosen.
