Volunteers waved signs and lugged around literal tons of donations for 'Stuff the Bus' Friday and Saturday in the Grocery Outlet parking lot in Wenatchee.

Link Transit Outreach Specialist Laura Leon said donations will now be distributed to Serve Wenatchee and the Chelan-Douglas Community Action Council to combat food insecurity in North Central Washington.

Loen said, "We've gotten a great response from the community. People who come to Grocery Outlet this morning have been very giving. A great response overall. I feel like we couldn't have asked for anything else."

The goal of the drive was 15,000 pounds of food and supplies. According to Communications Officer Eric West, donations easily surpassed that goal by the end of the first day.

Leon added they've received at least $10,000 in cash donations.

The event was made possible with help from Link Transit, Wenatchee Rotary, Chelan PUD, Numerica Credit Union, Cherry Creek Media, Peoples Bank, Costco, Abundant Life Chiropractic, Wheatland Bank, Cashmere Valley Bank, Gesa Credit Union, and Molina Healthcare.
