Confluence Health is dealing with a recent post-holiday surge in patient calls regarding COVID-19 testing by asking that only symptomatic people get tested in order to reduce demand.

Communications Director Katie Grove says testing availability has dropped off as of late because staffing shortages and the recent cold weather are forcing limited hours at testing sites.

"If you are experiencing COVID-like symptoms, please call your healthcare provider and ask for testing guidance." stated Grove, "It is very important to remember that testing is a tool, and that a negative test today doesn't ensure you will not develop COVID-like symptoms tomorrow."

Confluence is also announcing that starting Wednesday all testing appointments will need to be made ahead of time by calling (509) 663-8711. In addition, Confluence's testing sites will have reduced hours this week.
