Cremated human remains that were found on the side of I-90 in early April have been identified.

Kittitas County Coroner Nick Henderson says it was the help of Henry Johnston of Johnston and Williams Funeral Home in Ellensburg that broke the case open. Johnston inspected the urn and found a permanent ID disc that identified a funeral home in Colville as the crematory where the remains came from.

The deceased was soon identified and the remains are now on their way back to family thanks to the help of the Steven's County Sheriff's Office.

How the urn ended up on the side of the highway between Kittitas and Vantage is still a mystery.
