Moses Lake Police Department is receiving $10,134 from the U.S. Department of Justice through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant program. The grant program allows local government to fund crime control and prevention activities.

"This year, we will put that money toward a program called CelleBrite, which is a software program and equipment," said Chief Kevin Fuhr. "That will help detectives analyze cell phones."

Detectives receive cell phones related to criminal activity, such as shootings and domestic violence.

MLPD receives Edward Byrne funding annually due to the size of the department and its crime statistics.

The Dept. of Justice also provided funds to Kennewick and Yakima.
