The City of East Wenatchee will partner with cybersecurity organization PISCES International for free network monitoring.

Ike Lasswell with the City of East Wenatchee says PISCES (Public Infrastructure Security Cyber Education System) is a nonprofit that partners with the private sector, colleges and local governments at no cost.

"We'd put a device on our network that would monitor our traffic and send packet headers, which are like envelope information," explained Lasswell.

Information collected includes who the sender is , the recipient's information and how the data was first sent.

The information is then stored in a database until students, acting as cybersecurity analysts, evaluate the data and let the business or organization know if there is a problem.

PISCES provides no-cost services to government municipalities of 150 employees or less.
