Eastmont Makes Choices on November Levy
The Eastmont School Board voted Monday to decide the amount and duration of their upcoming Educational Programs and Operations renewal levy that will appear on the November 3rd ballot.
The district will propose a 4-year levy that is almost unchanged from the expiring one, costing homeowners around $2.11 per $1,000 of assessed property value.
Superintendent Garn Christensen said, "The board took a conservative approach. They recognized that our voters, many of them have lost income recently, and wanted to be as cautious as they could."
The levy is estimated to raise just over $11 million for the school district in its first year, rising to almost $12.8 million in Year 4 due to the expected rise in property values.
The recommendation factored in a 5% annual increase to the collected amount to sustain current program offerings and related expenditures.
