Eastmont Park Futsal Field Now Complete

The futsal field at Eastmont Community Park has now officially been completed. The fenced-in field can be found next to the Eastmont Aquatic Center and the pump track.

Futsal Project Ambassador Ian Stephens said the idea of a futsal field began as a dream to add a type of outdoor recreation that the Wenatchee Valley didn't previously have. He stated it's surreal to look back at the whole effort and see the community-funded addition come together.

"Then, as the dream grew, it just built in momentum. Things started happening so we got more excitement and more and more people got on board and started backing the project." explained Stephens, "It just kind of exploded."

The project was mainly funded by donations from the community as well as U.S. Soccer. The original hope was to have the project completed by April, but the pandemic pushed back that timeline.

"We also have a goal to have a kind of a ribbon-cutting tournament where we invite local teams and teams from outside of the area to come in and enjoy our field. Kind of kick up some excitement about futsal and raise some money for the community," continued Stephens.

Eastmont Parks and Recreation will be in charge of maintaining the field, which is made from NFL-grade artificial turf. Those intending to use the field are asked to refrain from using cleats.
