A one-vehicle accident on I-90 Friday afternoon about 7 miles west of Cle Elum resulted in the death of a 51-year-old man.

Trooper John Bryant said a passerby reported a 1985 Dodge pickup had left an eastbound lane around 2:45 pm.

"If you look on the (Department of Transportation) cameras the roadway was clear and dry, about 70 to 75 degrees. Traffic was a little heavier. In the weekends you get a lot of eastbound traffic. People traveling back to their homes or hoping to take the weekend off."

The driver was declared dead at the scene while his passenger, a 25-year-old man, had to be extricated from the vehicle by firefighters. He was transported to the hospital with at least a broken leg.

WSDOT is reporting minor delays in the area due to the collision.
