Grant County Sheriff’s Office Urges Drivers to Slow Down in Icy Conditions
After an influx of collisions on Interstate 90 in Grant County, eastbound I-90 closed at Adams Road temporarily Sunday evening. Grant County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Kyle Foreman urges drivers to be cautious as the winter weather worsens road conditions.
"Now that we're getting into the winter season we're going to start seeing ice on the roadways, snow conditions and fog conditions," said Foreman. "The biggest message we ask motorists to do is slow down."
While it may seem simplistic, slowing down is imperative to avoid a collision. According to Foreman, a collision between George and Moses Lake involving multiple vehicles occurred Sunday and the common factor amongst the drivers was speeding at the freeway speed on icy conditions.
"When they needed to brake, the brakes didn't do too much for them because the roads were icy," said Foreman. "Take our advice, please slow down. You'll get to your destination much safer."
