Grant County wildfire closes highway

A brush fire Monday in Grant County south of Warden triggered evacuation notices and a road closure along SR17 due to heavy smoke over the roadway.

The Level 1 evacuation notice was posted about 3:30pm about 5 miles southwest of Warden for SR17  at Warden Golf Course Road, Road 11-SE and Road S-SE and areas south of Warden.  The evacuation alert was lifted by 6pm.

The road closure went into effect on Highway 17 around 4pm with local detours in place.  SR17 was reopened at 8:30pm Monday
