Royal High School in Grant County is alerting the public about fake social media accounts around the country that claim to represent schools, including Royal High itself.

The school says the Instagram and Snapchat accounts label themselves as "expose" sites that are meant to show embarrassing behavior such as sleeping in class.

A release from Royal High says the posts have become more insulting and invasive, and now include pictures taken without consent and photos that have been manipulated inappropriately.

The school says it's working with Royal City to identify the fake social media accounts, and is asking parents to report the activity to officers.

" We encourage parents/guardians to get involved and stay engaged with your student’s online activities," the school said in a statement. "It is important to note that expose accounts like this only gain traction when others share, friend, screenshot, or repost."
