State republicans are focusing on reviving the economy and getting folks back to work as they approach the legislative session that began Monday. The aftermath of COVID-19 shutdowns has had a weighty impact on businesses and House Minority Leader J.T. Wilcox is among those working toward pandemic relief for employers.

“Many, many businesses are seeing three-to-five-hundred percent increases in their unemployment insurance rates. And we should use part of the rainy-day fund to backfill that,” said Wilcox.

Another priority will be to pass legislation that reforms the governor’s emergency powers.
