Folks that will be in Manson this weekend may want to join in on the 6th annual Hydrofest fun. The Manson Hydrofest is coordinated by Manson Chamber of Commerce and Seattle Inboard Racing Association and signifies the end of the season for racing in Region 10.

"This year's race is particularly exciting because it's the Western Division Invitational. It's a points race that will really wrap up the season and determine who comes out on top for a lot of boat categories," said Jeff Conwell, event coordinator.

The racing starts Saturday morning and lasts until Sunday, however Friday afternoon kickstarts the weekend racing festivities. At 5 p.m., there will be a kick off pre-registration party at WineGirl Wines with live music and several hydroplanes displayed. Saturday night will be the awards ceremony at WineGirl Wines and Sunday is an opportunity for drivers to make up points if they missed a race or two over the course of the season.

"Another feature that's going to happen at this particular event is an actual driver experience where people can pay $500, through Seattle Inboard Racing Association, and they'll be put into an actual hydro capsule turned upside down in a swimming pool and have to find their way out," said Conwell. "If they can do that, then they actually qualify for the opportunity, with additional instructions, to go out on the course and drive a hydroplane."

Folks that want to join in can head down to the Manson Bay at the Manson Bay Marina and a $10 Pit Pass will cover both Saturday and Sunday's entry. The Manson Fire Department will be hosting a barbecue across the street during the Hydrofest.
