Chelan County Public Works, Department of Ecology, Representative Keith Goehner and Wenatchee Mayor Frank Kuntz celebrated the opening of the new Chelan County Moderate Risk Waste Facility Thursday afternoon. The ribbon cutting ceremony also signified the opening of the facility to the public, which is December 6th from 9-3.

"Having something that's here on a regular basis and safe with a predictable time, it'll be a great benefit and much more accessible," said Goehner.

Chelan County along with the cities Cashmere, Leavenworth, Wenatchee, Chelan and Entiat, are covering the cost of the operational and maintenance costs. Residents will not be charged for use of the facility, though a $10 donation per trip is encouraged.
