A Moses Lake man was cleaning his pistol early Monday morning when he injured himself by accidentally shooting his hand. Moses Lake police contacted the man Monday morning at around 1:15 according to Mike Williams, operations captain. This was after he sought treatment for the wound at Samaritan Hospital.

"The man said he was cleaning the gun and as part of the take down process of the gun he had to pull the trigger. He had neglected to unload the weapon before breaking it down for cleaning and when he pulled the trigger to disassemble it, he shot himself through the hand," said Williams.

When officers responded to the injured man's home, there was no evidence of a crime.
