Museum Takes Visitors to Site of History
The Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center is offering regional tours for those proud locals, history buffs or residents in the Valley who just want to learn more about the history intertwined in their surroundings. This Saturday, the museum will be taking visitors to revisit the deadly avalanche that came down the Cascades in 1910, known as the Wellington Disaster, during the Railroad History Tour.
"You get to go to the Wellington site on a guided tour, hear about the Great Northern Railroad company and history around here between Leavenworth and Steven's Pass. It's very fascinating, " said Ashley Sinner, public relations coordinator.
The next tour, the Quincy Basin Geology Tour, will be September 21 for those who can't make Saturday's historical trek to Wellington.
"We have guided tours that do geological history and formations that are in this Valley. It's how are our Valley was created," said Sinner.
There will be four opportunities this fall to be transported back in time with tours of the Quincy Basin and Lake Wenatchee along with various points of historical significance. All of the tours are all day, starting at 9 and wrapped up by 5. Tickets vary from $45-$55 for non-members and $40-50 for members, depending on the tour selected.
