NCW Counties Get Low Turnout in Tuesday Primary Elections
Results won't be finalized for almost two weeks, but no county in Tuesday's North Central Washington Primary elections achieved a 30 percent voter turnout.
Okanogan County came the closest at 27.02%, while Grant County (16.08%) and Douglas County (17.83%) had the lowest turnout. Chelan Counties total was 22.95%.
The current counts don't include ballots still being processed, including those picked up from ballot boxes Tuesday night and those postmarked by the end of the day Tuesday but still hadn't arrived.
The elections are scheduled to be certified August 17, which is two week from Tuesday's election.
Chelan County's first tabulation at 8 pm Tuesday totaled 10,058 ballots out of 43,828 total registered voters. There were about 2,800 ballots still waiting to be processed.
Douglas County's initial tabulation was also posted at 8 pm, totaling 4,118 ballots out of 23,094 registered voters, with 1,000 ballots still to be processed.
